Thank you. Tho it's a worthwhile caution against legalistic religion, I am reminded (as I read this) that the kindest, most gentle and loving people I know have the sternest theology, and are the most honest about our all being sinners desperately in need of God's grace. It's not that there aren't hateful cruel "religious" people out there who drive away the unchurched. There are. But it's like those comments about being capable of honesty (in other contexts): a better prognosis for us if we face the less than flattering truth about ourselves. The self-sufficient and the self-satisfied do not know that they need God and are less likely to stay cruel hands unrestrained by Him. Great post! Thank you.
