If you own a cat (we have two, and a dog), then you will understand these cartoons all too well:
A great deal of democratic enthusiasm descends from the ideas of people like Rousseau, who believed in democracy because they thought mankind so wise and good that everyone deserved a share in the government. The real reason for democracy is just the reverse. Mankind is so fallen that no man can be trusted with unchecked power over his fellows.

I have 4 cats so I can so relate. 2 of them will paw at a closed door till it’s opened, no matter if you’re sleeping! Can’t imagine living without them :)
