Experience had taught me that innocence seldom utters outraged shrieks. Guilt does. Innocence is a mighty shield, and the man or woman covered by it, is much more likely to answer calmly: “My life is blameless. Look into it, if you like, for you will find nothing.” That is the tone of innocence.

Wow! I clicked on one of your first links–”What is a participle?”–thinking I would enjoy a yummy snack. By the time I finished reading the post and all of the comments, I felt as if I had eaten a feast intended for three people! And that took up all the time I had, and more.

    But it was enjoyable!
