Wow! I could feel that post! Dr. Bob, it takes a special person to not only make the move you made, but to share it with everyone so openly - a painful lesson in choosing to love bared as a lesson for us all ...

What an example for beginning the New Year.

Thank you!

Reading this one hurt, touching on a still-sore area inside from a similar mess with my sister. It, too, began with differences of opinion concerning the present and eventual care of our 89-year-old mother. Of course, the real fight came down to some long-held feelings that finally had the power of dynamite and exploded. Numerousl attempts on my part to increase understanding and bring reconciliation utterly failed.

I was wounded beyond relief, as I had been pummeled with accusations, mostly without basis in truth. But I had a problem: I missed my sister. I finally called, just to chat. Our conversations have been guarded, for several months. I'm just very careful what I say, very careful about expressing opinions. We have not touched further on the issues or the accusations.

I hope you and your wife's family have been able to do better than we have, although our relationship is getting better, again. I think some greater measure of healing occurred at Christmas, with both of us forgiving the other, but that was unspoken, so I'm still careful.

I wish you and your family--all of you--the peace of God in your relationships, and in all other stressful situations, this year.

Yes, I half expect God's first words in heaven to be:

" Would you take out the trash?"

Thanks for your thoughts, and have a great New Year yourself.

I don't know about you, but I just can't stand it when the Lord is trying to tell me something and He speaks through my wife. Anyway, you got the new year off to a good start. Happy New Year!
